“Ghosting” is a condition that can develop over time, where the board becomes difficult to clean and doesn’t completely erase, leaving a residual image that is still visible. This problem is most prevalent with Melamine surface marker boards. It is less of an issue with porcelain and virtually no problem with glass writing surfaces.

The best way to prevent ghosting is thorough, frequent cleaning with non-abrasive cleaners. In extreme cases, the board may need to be re-surfaced or replaced.
