Tabletop Options

The flat tables with fixed-flat tabletop support traditional table use ideal for busy classrooms, art rooms, craft studios, and home. The graphic arts and drafting tables with single-top or split-top designs offer adjustable tabletop angles to improve comfortable work posture. Table angles vary from 0° or flat, up to 30°, 35°, 40°, 45°, or 50°, depending on the series. The tabletops that accommodate angled positions include a bottom ledge or pencil stop to prevent writing utensils, papers, and books from sliding off the surface.

Tabletop Materials

Laminate Table Tops: Tables with laminate tops are an economical alternative to the all-wood tables, featuring durable high-pressure laminate finish or thermofused melamine finish with flat or vinyl bumper edges. Laminate finish may be high-pressure laminate or thermofused melamine. Both offer durability and strength, long-lasting appearance, and scratch-resistant surfaces for a smooth workspace.

Wood Table Tops: Wood tables have at least two tabletop options. The all-wood tables include solid hardwood tabletop. The wood components are finished in a natural wood-tone and are typically more expensive.

Glass Table Tops: Glass table tops feature a blue tempered safety-glass tabletop for clear, sturdy, and durable workspace with lasting smooth surface. The glass allows see-through visibility making our Futura Series perfect for use as a light table, enhancing graphic artistry and similar work environments.

Edging

Edge styles vary. Some tables offer a flat edge with squared or slightly rounded corners. PVC edging serves in a similar manner, protecting from bumps and impact. Finished edges also prevent lifting or separation in the laminate finish tabletops. The solid hardwood tabletops typically have self-edges.

Frame Material

Wood: Most wood tables are constructed with a solid hardwood base or frame. The legs are reinforced with a series of connecting rungs or truss bars. Truss bar emphasize weight distribution for balanced support. Each leg also includes one adjustable leveling glide.

Steel: Many drafting and art tables offer a heavy-duty steel, painted frame. Frame finish options range from baked-on enamel or eco-friendly powder-coat paint to chrome. Adjustable height leg options are also available for added versatility.

CAD Desk and Computer Storage

The CAD (computer-aided design) desk offers a flat work surface perfect for computer elements and an adjustable work surface for comfortable drawing and work postures.

The Art and Drafting Tables with Split-Top and Maple Frame come in two styles, both with integrated CPU holder that adjusts to accommodate most computer cases. An attached monitor arm supports flat-screen computer monitors up to 24”-diagonal, and the two work desks include pullout keyboard trays for space-saving design that allows quick access to keyboard as needed. The keyboard trays have swing-out mouse tray attached for added convenience. The two work desks also include built-in cable manager to keep technology wires organized.

Size Options

Determine individual height needs by evaluating whether the primary user(s) will perform the majority of work at the table while seated or standing. For taller chair options to accommodate the taller art and drafting tables, we offer a diverse selection of drafting stools with stationary or mobile frame designs.

Cost Differences

Art and drafting tables with melamine tabletop finish or laminate tabletop finish generally run less than the cost of their solid wood tabletop counterparts. The AT Series, for example, offers a solid hardwood maple top Art and Cutting Table and the same table is available with laminate finish at roughly half the price of the solid hardwood top alternative. All of the art and drafting table collections come with quantity discounts when coordinating tables and elements are purchased in one order.
